*Before and After Numbers
*Doubles and Halves
*Number Bonds
*Addition and Subtraction Facts
There are four different stages for your child to work through.
Stage 0-3
Stage 4
Stage 5
Stage 6
It is expected that after 3 years at school, children will be able to instantly recall all of the basic facts from stage 0-3 through to 5.
Each Friday, your child will be tested on the basic fact they are learning. If they are able to instantly recall all of the facts in the set amount of time (around 3 seconds per question) they will be given new basic facts to learn.
How you can help at home...
Encourage your child to practice their basic facts every night!
There are many different ways you can help them practice. Here are a few ideas...
*Make flash cards with your child and use them to practice the facts they don't know
*Play card games (flip a card over...'What number comes before/after?')
*Write them down on a whiteboard or scrap paper
*Print the tests for them to practice on
*Ask them the questions while walking/driving to school
*Make a game together
Please check their Home Learning Book regularly so you can keep track of the progress they are making.
If you are unsure of what is expected or have any questions please feel free to email me or pop in one morning or afternoon.
